Our Programs

At the heart of SDC are our programs, each specifically designed to provide a safe environment for children of all abilities to learn and confidently express themselves while having fun.

Building Bridges with Music

Building Bridges with Music (BBM) is a music program that aims to promote socialization between children of all abilities while instilling a sense of confident expression rather than musical ability alone.

BBM is designed for children who are more comfortable with active social interaction.

Education Through Creativity

Education Through Creativity (ETC) is an art program that aims to build lasting connections between children of all abilities. We hope to provide a safe and comfortable environment for children with disabilities to participate freely.

ETC is designed for children with disabilities who are easily overstimulated by sound and movement.

Birthday Surprise

Every child deserves a fulfilling childhood, complete with magic, surprises, and joy. At SDC, we strive to show our unconditional support for children with disabilities, with hopes to make their birthday wishes a reality. With our Birthday Surprise Program, we celebrate each child’s birthday with a birthday party, which includes a meaningful birthday present, a thoughtful card, and a delicious cake—just a small gesture to show how much we appreciate them!

Youth Training Workshops

We strongly believe that empathy comes with genuine understanding and acceptance. Too many kind-hearted individuals hope to make a difference but lack the resources and training to do so with confidence. SDC strives to change this reality by hosting Youth Training Workshops, in which youth may develop a social conscience at an early age. Our workshop curriculum covers disability justice, human rights, and fundamental skills to help youth become advocates and activists in their own communities.

Global Impact Delegation

Global Impact Delegation (GID) is a cross-national trip to China in which we work with Chinese governments—at municipal, provincial, and national levels—to improve social welfare policies affecting children with disabilities. Additionally, SDC establishes inclusive support programs for children with disabilities to further improve service availability. Our members work closely with teachers to develop strategies to better teach children with disabilities and to enhance programs offered in both China and Canada. The objective of GID is to inspire compassion and activism in youth of all abilities everywhere.

Penpal Program

SDC’s Penpal Program provides your child with a meaningful platform where they can connect and learn from one another. The program’s objective is to help build and foster connections between people of all abilities while providing a safe platform. The child and volunteer will both gain valuable experience and diverse friendships through the program.
