“Talent can get you far, but hard work can take you anywhere”

The Person of the Month award is always given to hard working and dedicated individuals, who have a drive for passion and results. Our Person of the Month for the month of February is Bradley Wong, our Chief of Staff on the 2021-2022 SDC Youth Team! Through Bradley’s diligent work on our upcoming podcast episodes which is soon to be released, more communities will not only hear about the Social Diversity for Children Foundation, but also have the opportunity to get involved with all the change we strive for.

Bradley was born and raised in Vancouver, BC, and currently attends Richmond Christian Secondary School in his Grade 12 year. He hopes to study commerce in the future, going into either business or law. He is actively involved in his school community, being this year’s student council president. Bradley also attends Model United Nations conferences. He enjoys exploring downtown Vancouver with his friends and binging Netflix shows. Bradley strives to leave a legacy, showing others what they can achieve through hard work.

This marks the second year that Bradley has been with Social Diversity for Children. At the time he was searching for opportunities where he could impact his community, he stumbled upon a friend’s Instagram story linked to SDC. Last year, Bradley served as the Executive Assistant to the Chief of Staff on the OOP team and this year, serves as the Chief of Staff. He believes in his current role on the Youth Team, he is able to take initiative on big projects such as the SDC Podcast. Bradley remembers his first month at SDC, where he bonded with fellow members while moving heavy boxes filled with jackets. He felt welcomed and accepted into the SDC family, inspiring him to work hard to create change and impact.

Furthermore, Bradley’s great contribution makes him deserve the Person of the Month award. Through hosting and editing the podcasts, he brought the perspectives of famous individuals, such as a non-profit founder Bean Gill, Paralympian Ashley Gowanlock, and gold medalist Natalie Du Toit. These podcasts will inform the public not only about SDC, but also about the stories of people’s lives. Bradley is excited that the podcasts will shortly come out, as the recording has all been done.

Bradley believes that SDC has developed his character and skills, as it made him move outside of his comfort zone. He had to take unfamiliar initiatives, which is why when he finished them, he became more confident in himself. Additionally, by working with like-minded students and receiving advice, he gained new skills. He wishes that his efforts would inspire others to take an initiative in creating change.
