“The secret of getting something done, is actually by doing it."

This simplistic, witty yet meaningful statement by Jacky Chan tells us to shoot for our goals and act now. Jacky believes that anybody can contribute and make a change, as long as you are willing to make a difference, you should. Through this especially trying year, we aim to recognize those who have made a positive impact on the Social Diversity for Children Foundation’s community. The Person of the Month Award was designed precisely for this reason, to acknowledge contributors such as Jacky Chan. SDC is glad to announce that Jacky is our Person of the Month for the month of May.

Born in Hong Kong, Jacky moved to Vancouver when he was 10 years old. Following elementary school, he attended the IB program at Sir Winston Churchill, graduating as valedictorian in 2001. Currently, Mr. Chan is the President of BakerWest Real Estate and CEO of Park Georgia Realty. He is passionate about making a positive difference by going above and beyond in everything he does to work towards making the world a better place. A major target of his is to aim to have clean water and shelter for everyone around the world.

After being introduced to David Wang, the President of SDC and David Chan, Jacky was touched by the Social Diversity for Children Foundation’s mission and wished to help out. Thus, he began his first year with SDC. It was an interesting first year, strongly affected by COVID-19, however despite many aspects of projects done virtually, Jacky still made an important difference. As co-chair of the 2021 SDC Gala, Jacky improved the success of fundraising initiatives, operations and marketing.

Over the years, Jacky has worked with numerous charities and positively impacted those he helped and worked with. In collaboration with others, he even created the Adoption Program for donors to support a child’s SDC classes. “SDC has given me a big sense of responsibility to those indeed who are immediate to our local population” the platform produces a space for anyone to help social diversity in our everyday lives. During his time with SDC, Jacky has learned that as difficult as something may seem, as long as a community bands together with a plan and exacts it, what seems impossible can easily become a reality.
