““Lead from the back and let others believe they are in the front”
This quote by Nelson Mandela perfectly exhibits Cindy Lin’s way of thinking and immense contribution to the Social Diversity for Children Foundation. Cindy believes that following the laissez faire approach everyone will be given the chance to fail fast but safely and learn from the experience with little repercussions. It is important to motivate people by having them take ownership of their work and feel valued for their contributions. As a member of the board of Social Diversity for Children Foundation and director of marketing and strategy at Quantum Academy, Cindy has made positive and impactful contributions towards SDC. Each month we aim to recognize people who have made meaningful contributions to SDC, for these reasons we are proud to announce Cindy Lin as the Person of the Month for November.
Born in Taiwan, Cindy has traveled to many places in the world and would like to continue to travel and explore new places. She attended the University of British Columbia where she got her B.A. in Psychology and a Masters in Management at the Sauder School of Business. Passionate about giving back to the community, Cindy believes if everyone contributes as much as they can on their own, then as a whole the world would be a better place.
Cindy has been with SDC for almost a year now and she began working with David Wang and David Chen at the end of last year. Cindy found SDC’s and supported its mission to help SDC achieve its goal of helping children. As a result, Cindy introduced SDC to her partners at her company, Quantum Academy, to band together and for the betterment of the world. Cindy is inspired by working with talented young individuals to give back to society.
One of the biggest impacts Cindy has made is raising awareness among students and corporations about children with disabilities. Cindy helped create a proposal to businesses to raise funds for SDC to purchase masks to give to senior homes. Another project Cindy worked on is leading a group of students to organize a charity event. Cindy says that “ working with SDC is very motivating and rewarding as you give back to society.” During her time with SDC through leading the youth on charitable projects, Cindy has learned the importance of empowering youth to give back to society.
