Why Melodies in Nature?
MIN is an in person music program that will be held at a local park. Each session serves as a safe space for children with special needs to express themselves with music. Each session will be taught by an experienced music teacher, enabling participants to engage in fun musical activities, while also immersing themselves in nature.
Why Building Bridges with Music?
Building Bridges with Music is a music program, where children of all abilities can come together, using music as a medium. Music programs present many benefits, ultimately encouraging children to reach their fullest potential. Each session incorporates a variety of engaging and fun activities with an experienced music teacher.
Black Lives Matter: Discrimination against Black Children with Disabilities
Racial bias runs rampant in our systems, which also extends to the unfair treatment of African American children with disabilities.

After SDC’s COVID Relief Fund to provide PPE to those in immediate need, our parliament kindly shared some words of gratitude. 10k Milestone - COVID-19 Relief Fund
As of April 20th, 2020, in support of the worldwide effort to keep our communities safe, SDC has raised an astounding total of over $10,000 dollars to provide PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for those in immediate need.
First PPE delivery!
On April 15th, 2020, SDC was able to provide a total of 3300 disposable masks to Pinegrove Place, Courtyard Gardens, and Gilmore Gardens in Richmond.
